Director's Outlook

Globally and nationally the Canadian Bible Society provides leadership to the work of TRANSLATION and PUBLISHING.  At the more local level CBS Districts have major involvements in Scripture DISTRIBUTION which leads to Scripture ENGAGEMENT.

Scripture DISTRIBUTION takes place when Scriptures are...

• purchased for containers going to third world countries
  
• given to chaplains for their work within the penal system
• shared with youth at concerts and athletic events
• distributed via rescue missions, homeless shelters, halfway homes, etc
• presented to widows who attend a “Bless the Widows” event
• placed on a table for those attending a special Easter pageant production

There also are the many Scriptures given on a one to one basis.  It is most exciting to interact with individuals who distribute Bibles and the come and tell their stories while they replenish their stock for subsequent distributions. One dynamic personal testimony is, “I’m no longer a drug pusher but a Bible pusher”. Another person told us of being on a mission trip to a country where Bibles are restricted.  When the customs person saw an entire suitcase of Bibles, she quickly closed the suitcase and said “If someone asks, what’s in there, I’ll tell them soap”.  And of course we do believe that God’s Precious Word can and will clean up every life.
