Bible House Open House!

The Canadian Bible Society, Salem Storehouse, and Calvary Fellowship invite you to a joint Bible House-Open House at 315 Lisgar St, on Thursday, October 13 anytime between 4.00pm and 7.30pm. Come and join us for coffee, snacks and fellowship!

You'll get a chance to find out what's happening with the development of some new partnerships and much needed ministries here in the heart of downtown Ottawa, and see first hand the recent renovations at the Bible House.

Annual Evening of Celebration Update

This year our Anuual Celebration took place at the Coptic Church in the east end of Ottawa. Seventy five people enjoyed an amazing meal provided by the ladies of the Congregation. Don updated us on some of the work of CBS and Andrew Chisholm introduced the Report Booklet. Our Special speaker was Scott Harris from Corrections Canada. Scott talked about the history of CBS here in Eastern Ontario and the legacy that was left behind by those wonderful supporters.  The work we do today builds on the work that began here in the 1830's.

Remembrance Day

On this Remembrance Day I am thinking about my grandfather who fought in World War 1.  His body carried the scars of his physical injuries that included several shrapnel wounds and a bullet wound.  He never spoke of the horrors that he encountered during that time and he frequently turned to alcohol to help dampen the memories.

A Prayer for Translators

One of our board members here in Eastern Ontario discovered that  today, October 6, is specifically designated as a day to remember the work of the 16th  Century Bible Translators, William Tyndale and Miles Coverdale. She has been using this site in praying the daily office.

Bike-4-Bibles

Bike 4 BiblesBike 4 BiblesI recently returned from helping with our Annual Bike-4-Bibles Triple Shores Ride.  It was an amazing time as the cyclists rode just under 1000 km's for the week, touching the three great lakes.  For the most part, the weather was fantastic and we got to meet some great people in Southern Ontario. The scenery was spectacular and the home cooking was great fuel to keep people going!

Changes in Eastern Ontario

Friday was the last official day of The Bible House Here in Ottawa as we retool now for a new season ministry.  The last couple of weeks were really hectic and this week has seen a lot of packing, cleaning, rearranging etc..  I just want to brag for a second about what a wonderful team we have here in Ottawa.  They have served CBS and the Bible cause well, and I am proud of them!

More Proclamation-Brockville

A Mini-Proclamation was just completed in the Odessa area over the Easter weekend. A HUGE thank you to the many who participated and to Emmanuel United Church for hosting the event!

 

Now a 10-day Proclamation is about to begin in the City of Brockville from April 21-30.  This particular area has the longest running consecutive Proclamtion in Canada! The team of people there is amazing as they continue to be excited about reading the Bible!
