Our roots as a Bible Society reach back over 200 years. Over that span of time the Bible Society continued to be on the cutting edge of innovation as it sought intriguing and enticing ways to bring the Good News to folks where they lived and worked it may have been the recesses of the inner city or on the far-flung wilderness frontier.
Weaving its way through this history is the passionate belief that Gods Word changes hearts and lives. To make this happen effectively requires people, people like you, who give generously of time and resources and who undergird this life-changing ministry with abundant prayer.
A major area of involvement is our congregational representative program. You can read and discover more about this important local initiative elsewhere in these web pages.
Each year we have a number of Bike for Bibles rides across the country. These rides are of varying length from one day to a week. Their primary purpose is to raise funds for a variety of highly important ministry projects. Recent projects included an exciting edition of tens of thousands of Bibles for the men and women in our military; a special bible called Word of Welcome which is given to English as Second Language students sponsored by local congregations and in 2009 funds were raised for a special edition New Testament for distribution at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. We are privileged to have many riders of all ages from fourteen years of age to eighty participate. Additionally, we have many churches who partner with us in providing overnight accommodation, mid-day and lunch breaks. These rides are a tremendous way to enjoy Christian community and to have tons of fun. Many of our riders and roadies (folks who provide support) return year after year.
