CBS, GMA BEGIN SEARCH FOR 2010 SCRIPTURE SONG

The Canadian Bible Society, in its second year of partnership with Gospel Music Association Canada, is searching for an original song for this years Scripture Song of the Year category.
Songs in this category are to be adapted from or based upon Scripture from any Bible translation and at least 60% of the lyrical content must be closely based on Scriptural reference(s). All music styles and genres will be accepted.
The winner will receive a prize valued at more than $9,000 which includes:
| Custom NovaScotian Crystal Award to be presented at the GMA Awards Show |
| Complete (3) three song EP recording at AME Recording Studio (http://www.amerecordingstudio.com/) with session musicians |
| Manufacturing of CD with artwork |
| Eight-week promotion of Scripture Song of the Year by Dale Speaking (http://www.dalespeaking.com/) |
Joshua Seller, winner of the 2009 Scripture Song Award for his piece, Song of the Angels, encourages song writers to send in their entries as he received great fruits from this award. Through this award, Joshua was able to record and release his first EP, Passionate Reverence.
He also added, I love the purpose and the base of this competition; its not to make people famous. Its just to get solid, biblical songs to Canada.
Leroy Harder, Executive Director GMA Canada says, It is an honour to be able to present a brand new opportunity for artists in the Scripture Song competition. Being able to give artists incentive to write songs that are infused with Scripture accomplishes so many things that GMA Canada stands for. This partnership with CBS is a match made in heaven. Not only will artists be given practical, career building opportunities as a result, but we hope it will spur on many writers to pursue biblical content in their writing, and foster a renewed interest in writing songs that are not only based on good things, but contain the words of Scripture as their backbone.

GMA Canada Week will take place in Calgary on October 27-30. The Scripture Song of the Year will be awarded on Friday, October 29th.
