Friday Saturday & Sunday were very exciting days spent at Toronto MissionFest alongside colleagues from our National Office and Central Ontario Board. We had many opportunities to share with visitors and ministry participants alike what the Bible Society is currently involved with both at home and around the world.
Yahero was a big hit with tweens and parents, many of them commending
us for providing scripture based entertainment in the virtual world.
One of our Board members, Ek Heidebrecht shared, "It was fun tonight...lots of interested people, thanks to a really effective marketing tool...the Yahero cards. All I had to say was "Got any youngsters?" or "Got any younger siblings?" and that got the conversation started, very often leading to giving them more of an overview of the society's work. I must have given out well over 100 cards and the interest was amazing. There was also a lot of interest in Bike for Bibles and I gave out between 20 and 30 brochures."
Jerry received a copy of CBS' citizenship Bible many years ago. This Bible was replaced by the Word of Welcome Bibles offered in ESL/FSL classes. One gentleman sought us out to ask if we still presented bibles at the Canadian Citizenship ceremonies. While he was disappointed that we were no longer allowed to make the presentations, we now are partnering with churchs teaching ESL (English as a Second Language) providing each participant with The Word of Welcome Bible in the Contemporary English Version with special helps designed by the Association of ESL teachers. CBS believes that this is an even better opportunity to bring Gods Word to people immigrating from countries around the world during their first few months of arriving in Canada.
If your church sponsors an ESL program, please encourage the administrator to connect us to make use of the Word of Welcome Program at centralontario@biblesociety.ca
