Pray for Venezuela and the United Bible Societies in Venezuela Team

The United Bible Societies in Venezuela (UBSV) team has been reported safe after two powerful earthquakes struck northern Venezuela on the evening of June 24, causing widespread damage, collapsed buildings, and urgent rescue efforts across parts of the country. The disaster has triggered a rapidly developing national emergency, with widespread destruction, and an exhaustive rescue effort is underway.

• The Venezuela Bible Society team, giving thanks that they are safe and asking God to strengthen them as they assess the situation and respond to local needs.
• Families who have lost loved ones, that they may know God’s comfort, peace and presence in their grief.
• Those who are injured, missing or displaced, that they may receive urgent medical care, shelter, food, clean water and support.
• Emergency responders, medical staff and rescue workers, for protection, wisdom, endurance and access to those most in need.
• Churches and local communities in Venezuela, that they may be places of refuge, compassion and practical help in the days ahead.
• National and local authorities, as they coordinate rescue efforts, assess damage and provide assistance to affected communities.
• Children, older people and vulnerable families, who may be especially at risk following the earthquake.
• Peace and hope for the people of Venezuela, as communities face shock, uncertainty and the long process of recovery.
