GIVING MANAGER

DEPARTMENT: Strategic Services Department

LOCATION OF OFFICE: Toronto (flexible)

 

Summary of Tasks:

  1. In collaboration with the Director of Strategic Services, manage the Giving team members and external agencies; propose, plan, discuss and review annual budget, strategies, ongoing tactics, tools, new initiatives, new products, database mining, and procedures for all fundraising activity and other related or coordinated media including telemarketing and on-line where applicable.

  2. Review, propose changes or alternatives, edit, proofread and provide final approval for all concept proposals, data segmentation plans, creative outlines, copy, artwork, lasering, etc. for each appeal and project.

  3. Liaise with field personnel to develop fundraising initiatives which will generate income, raise awareness and achieve the mandate of CBS.

  4. Provide leadership to all subordinates and pass on technical expertise in the areas of fundraising, project management and marketing.

  5. Work collaboratively with the Major Gifts team and provide suitable marketing collateral to assist all the fundraising functions of the organization to achieve their goals.

  6. Provide leadership, and in conjunction with the Director of Strategic Services, raise the profile of CBS and the donorcentric culture within CBS.

  7. Lead the annual project selection process, and provide insights as a result of research, experience and collaboration with other Bible Societies.

  8. Fill in for the Director of Strategic Services when needed.

 

Qualifications:

  1. A strong commitment to the Christian faith and a passion for the Bible cause.

  2. Previous Fundraising experience including the direct mail industry and its methodologies.

  3. Excellent creative initiative with strong strategic development skills.

  4. Ability to work well under pressure, handling multiple demands (multi-tasking) while paying close attention to deadlines and schedules.

  5. Previous experience in project management with demonstrated ability to manage a project so as to meet all the required outcomes within the stated timeframes, budget constraints and milestones.

  6. New product development experience including undertaking market research and analysing findings for developing new product and/or initiatives.

  7. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with creative writing and editing skills. Some knowledge of French an asset.

  8. Tact and diplomacy with sensitivity.

  9. Education minimum: Post Secondary

  10. Good working knowledge of digital fundraising and digital channels in general.

  11. Previous experience of personnel management and ability to build a team and unite people behind a common vision and cause.

  12. Self-starter, self-manager, entrepreneurial, risk-taker.

  13. Very strong team ethos, able to coach & empower others without feeling exposed or at risk.

  14. Results orientated and motivated by achieving and exceeding stretch goals.

  15. Very strong negotiator who is able to motivate suppliers to deliver ever-increasing levels of service without jeopardising the relationship.

  16. Culturally aware and able to adapt as required during various overseas trips.

  17. Able to travel freely in and out of Canada, and to spend approximately 10% of work time outside of Canada at meetings, conferences, field trips and project designation meetings.
